My Personal Research Journey

I have chosen to look at recruiting, training, and retaining high quality teachers in early childhood facilities.  This topic relates closely with my personal and professional life.  Personally, I have struggled with my love of working in the early childhood field solely because of the pay.  I know I can get a higher paying job, but do not want to leave the environment or people I work with.  Professionally, I struggle every day to recruit and retain high quality teachers for my center.
So far, in this research process, I have learned a great deal.  I am now more attuned at looking closely at the sources I chose for my research and am more aware of the actual research process.  While, I have a lot of background doing research papers and the actual task of "researching" I never really embraced the process.  The chart I completed for this week's assignment helped me narrow down my focus and will be extremely helpful through the rest of this simulation.  I look forward to sharing new insights and suggestions with my colleagues.

You have chosen such a great topic to research. I too have struggled personally with my career for the same reason. I work in a charter school and we get paid much less than a regular public school teacher and we work more hours and have a lot more depends with higher expectations than other schools. Professionally I love my career and working with children, so I understand where you are coming from. I wish you much luck on your journey through this research project and course as well as your Walden experience.

Hello Amber,
I think you have chosen a great topic to research. I agree with you that it is not enough of recruiting, training, and retaining high quality teachers in the early childhood field and that is where the problems is because early childhood education is the foundation to our children learning. I feel like teachers are getting underpaid for all the work that they put in to help these students. I wish the best on your journey through life, teaching, and all your courses through Walden as well.

Amber,

You have chosen a very interesting topic and I am looking forward to following your blog in order to learn more about maintaining high quality teachers in child care settings. I am currently looking at how the qualifications of family child care providers impacts a student's educational outcome, so I am curious if we find any similarities in our research.

Hello Amber! You have chosen a great subject to study. This subject is a well needed subject to research. There are so many early care professional who are leaving the field of early education because of the budget cuts and amount of current salaries received. We need more people like yourself that want to make the change for the betterment of our children's futures. YES, we need a system that is willing to recruit future educators and we also need advocates that will fight for better salaries for educators. It seems that most cut backs are always started in the field of education. That seems crazy! Keep up the great works and I would LOVE to actually see you research findings.
